Finding a Home With a Fireplace
60How many times do you get the chance to buy a home? Not that many right? Right. So when you do buy a home you want to make sure that it is going to be up to par. That is going to match all of the specifications that you have set up. That includes knowing how big the rooms should be, what type of floors it is going to have, and what type of fireplace you want to be using.
Not all fireplace, especially in the south where I live, have a fireplace because sometimes they are simply not necessary or they are much too large for the style of the home. If you want a fireplace than you have to make sure that you find one. You also have to make sure that it is going to meet all of the criteria that you look for in a fireplace.
Location
The first thing that I always look at is the location. Not of the home, but of the fireplace. I have seen many homes that have the fireplace in the center of the living room. This makes me wonder where I am supposed to put my TV. I like my TV as the center of the room and my couch right across from it. That is not always possible when there is a fireplace in the way. I could always mount it above the fireplace, but I don’t always like the look of it and sometimes it is not possible.
Design
Another thing that you have to consider is the design and the look of the whole thing. Is it going to blend in well with the style of the rest of your home? Does it match your taste? My favorite is the stone fireplace design. Stone is very versatile and it works well in both contemporary and modern homes. Plus it is so much easier to keep clean and is durable.
Usage
The last thing that you have to think about is how it can be used. Most fireplaces do not run on just wood anymore. You can buy some that are electric or gas operated. You could be picky and try to find the one that you like or you could always convert it if necessary. It is not too expensive to do.
