How To Treat Mosquito Bites

Winter is slowly fading away her in the south and making way for spring to come out and play. Now is the time for us to stock up on all of the necessary supplies that we need for when the bugs start to come out and play. We are going to have to get our hands on the necessary bug sprays, candles, and anything else that will allow us to enjoy our time outside without getting bitten up.

Unfortunately we can only protect ourselves for so long before they strike at us. There will come a time when you cannot do nearly enough and you are going to have to figure out a way to treat that nasty mosquito bite. There are several things that you will be able to do depending on the severity of the bite and where it is at.

When treating mosquito bites the first thing that you have to remember is NOT to scratch at it. This is only going to irritate it even more and cause it to become a whole lot more painful than when it started out. Make sure that you tell this to your children and you stop them anytime that you catch them scratching at it.

Something that is good to put on a mosquito bite is a cool compress. This is going to sooth the irritation and the itching and help to reduce any swelling that has occurred. Calamine lotion is also something that you should apply to the bite. This will also help with the itching and irritation. You should keep this on you and apply it every few hours.

If you want to save a bit of money then you can make your own lotion by combining baking soda and water. It is such a simple thing to make and it works wonders on the skin. Bottle it up and you can take it with you to work and school.

If the bite is severe then you should speak with your doctor. You might be slightly allergic to the bite. That means that you will have to use strong medicine to counteract what it is doing to your body. Make sure that you take the required dosage and nothing more.

Thanks for sharing this. When bitten by a mosquito I couldn't help but scratch. Now I know I should not. The baking soda + water remedy is good. I'll try that.
