How To Spot An Asthma Attack

Growing up my mom had a lot of health problems. It seemed that she was constantly in the hospital for one thing or another. At a young age the doctors found a tumor in her throat and had to remove it. This caused her to have thyroid problems and to be on medicine for years. Another serious problem that she was forced to deal with all her life was asthma. This is a respiratory condition that makes it difficult for a person to breathe in certain situations and in certain areas.

As a child they did not always understand why she could not breathe and they thought maybe she had some rare form of allergies they did not know about. However, they soon came to discover that her wheezing became worse when around dust or a lot of pet allergen. Asthma is something that millions of Americans have to deal with.

For some people this is a mild condition and the most they might experience is shortness of breath and mild wheezing. For others it is much more serious and they have to carry medicine with them at all times. The worst part is having to deal with the asthma symptoms that are brought on during an asthma attack.

The most common symptoms to look out for are shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing, chest pain, and sneezing. In certain condition the attack will be so severe that you will feel like your throat and chest are closed completely and you are not getting any air at all.

That is why it is so important to carry some type of singular asthma or other type of inhaler with you. These are designed to give you medicine in the quickest way possible for the best and the quickest results. If you suffer from attacks like these it is important that you carry some identification card or bracelet so that stranger might know what is wrong should you collapse without someone you know there to help you.
