There is a great deal of respiratory conditions that people can suffer from, but none is more widely known and popular as asthma. This particular problem can affect both children and adults alike. However, it can affect people in different ways. That is because there are several different types of asthma. You should understand the different types and to learn how to recognize their symptoms.

Asthma and Allergies

The most common is the asthma that is related to any allergies that people have. The patient might be surrounded by certain types of allergens in the air and this can make it difficult for them to breathe. Children are more prone to this and in some cases they will out grow them.

Common allergens include:

  • Pollen
  • Mold/Dust
  • Pet dander
  • Food
  • Bugs
  • Fungi
  • Intrinsic Asthma

This is a type of asthma that usually affects adults. This one is different because it is not caused by allergens. Instead patients will have breathing problems associated with substances that will cause problems in the lungs. Common irritants include:

  • Air pollution
  • Weather changes
  • Medications
  • Exercise
  • Certain perfumed products
  • Emotions
  • Asthma at Night

A rare form of asthma is nocturnal asthma. This means that patients will suffer the worst of the symptoms between the hours of 12 AM to 4 AM. The triggers could be because of allergens in the bedroom or the fact that they suffer from gastroesophageal reflux. Sometimes it is hard to pinpoint exactly what will bring on the attack so suddenly and without warning.

I know one person having allergic asthma on certain perfumes. Once he travelled with me in my car as his brochospasm started because of my new air freshener. Terrific, have to wait outside for a long time in order to make him normal. Rated up and useful.
